Today’s Shayism: Sometimes we must allow the past to wash away, so we may focus on the present moment and look towards the future.
Granted the past gives us clues and markers in which to move forward in the present moment, however sometimes we get so caught up in what has happened to us in the past that we must release, let go and allow the waves to wash away the pain, hurt, anger and fear that is keeping us stuck. That “stuff” doesn’t allow you to move forward and see all the work you have been doing is starting to pay off. The great things you have attracted into your life are coming into fruition however if we keep looking back at those “footprints in the sand” we will allow all the new wonderful things, people and circumstance to pass us by.
It is that “story” that the footprints feed our ego mind. What happens if you give up the “story”? Then who will you be?
I get it, it can be scary releasing who you were for who you are now and who you are becoming.
The only constant in life is change. So who are you? Who do you want to be? What do you desire? How does your life look? In a perfect world, if time and money were no object, what would you be doing? Who would you be hanging out with? Would you be traveling? Laughing? Tending a garden? Playing with your kids? Sipping wine with the love of your life?
Dream a little! It’s okay.
I’m sure today you have already taken time to worry so why not dream?! It is a LOT less damaging than worry and you can’t mess it up…there is no wrong answer here. Heck the worst that can happen is the dreaming could come true! (who would have a problem with that? Not me!)
It’s time to stop looking behind and start looking at now and towards the future.
How did today’s post come up to finally publish? Last night I was doing some cleaning and found an old dream board I had created. Looking at what I had wanted and desired my life to be like in the future. I had things on it that I no longer desire, things I still would like to do and accomplish and things I HAD Accomplished! How cool is that! So it got me thinking. Now that I have more information, skills, background and life experiences under my belt…perhaps it is time to redo that Dream Board. I have started to do that a bit on Pinterest for boards such as “On My Live List” (places I would like to see while I live my life) but there is something quite powerful about seeing it in a physical picture hanging up that you look at on a daily basis. So that is what I did…pinned that old dream board to my ceiling. That way I can look at the things I want to accomplish and feel the feelings I desire to have that are still on that board. Why on the ceiling? That is what I see before I go to bed at night and can employ the assistance and power of my subconscious mind in assisting me to achieve it.
Now it’s your turn. Take 20 minutes to write down what you desire your life to look like, create a Pinterest board, or even make your own physical dream board!
I look forward to hearing what worked for you and/or being a sounding board for your questions.
